Iron-on Comma Butterfly Patch

The comma butterfly (Polygonia c-album) is easily recognised by its jagged, ragged-looking wing edges and bright orange upperwings marked with dark spots. When resting with wings closed, a small white comma-shaped marking on the underside gives this species its name. Once rare in parts of the UK, the comma has made a strong comeback and is now a familiar sight in woodland edges, hedgerows, and gardens.
