The Small Tortoiseshell is one of the most widespread and familiar butterflies across Europe. Found in gardens, meadows, and woodland edges, it is easily recognised by its orange and black patterned wings edged with blue crescents. Adults hibernate through the winter in sheltered places, often reappearing on the first warm days of spring, making it one of the earliest butterflies to be seen each year.

This butterfly enamel pin is 30 mm with a metal clasp and has screen-printed highlights of the intricate wing markings that make the species so distinctive. A fitting piece for those interested in butterflies or collecting wildlife enamel pins.

Each small tortoiseshell butterfly pin is supplied on an illustrated backing card, featuring colourful wild buddleias that reflect one of the butterfly’s food sources.
