Beth, an experienced copywriter, recently underwent a significant rebrand with a keen focus on interior design and stylized clients. Seeking to capture the essence of a garden in a whimsical way, she opted for Secret Garden-style illustrations throughout her website. With a sharp eye for detail and an affinity for muted colour palettes, Beth reached out to me for my expertise and unique artistic style.
Beth provided me with a list of animals and subjects she wanted to feature, such as wrens, squirrels, and rabbits, that would sit on their own next to copy on the site, and the home page would be a Secret Garden-style scene.
To start the project, I researched the different animals and plants to ensure accuracy and a realistic representation. I then began sketching different ideas and compositions, considering the layout of the website and how the illustrations would fit in.
Once the sketches were approved, I began the process of adding colour and details. For the Secret Garden scenes, I added more detail to the foliage and created an intricate garden gate with overgrown vines. The animals were then placed in different poses, interacting with each other and the environment.
The final illustrations were delivered to the client, who was extremely satisfied with the outcome. They loved how the Secret Garden-style illustrations brought a touch of whimsy and charm to their website. The illustrations not only provided a visual element but also served as a storytelling device, showcasing the beauty and wildlife of gardens.
The client was pleased with how the illustrations improved the overall look and feel of their website, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere that invites visitors to explore and engage with the content. The illustrations also helped to reinforce the client’s brand identity and message, showcasing their commitment to nature and the environment.
