The Red Kite (Milvus milvus) is a large, graceful, and iconic bird of prey often seen soaring over roads. Easily identified with its angled wings with white hand markings and a deeply forked tail. Compared to many other birds of prey, they have weak talons and are very light, so they are largely scavengers, mainly feeding on carrion or small prey like rabbits. 

Through one of the world's longest-running protection programmes, the Red Kite was saved from national extinction and successfully introduced to England and Scotland. 

This Red Kite woven iron-on patch is based on my original illustration and produced in high-quality woven fabric, capturing the rich red tones and detail of the striped feathers. The finely woven threads allow for crisp lines and detailed colour, creating a small piece of nature-inspired textile art that celebrates the beauty of forest fungi.

These woven iron-on patches are designed for easy application to most fabrics. Place the patch in position, cover with a cloth or baking paper, and press with a hot iron for around 20–30 seconds to activate the adhesive backing. Allow the patch to cool fully so it bonds securely to the fabric.

For items that receive heavy wear, such as jackets, bags, or backpacks, additional stitching can help increase durability.
