I was thrilled to be commissioned to create an illustrated homeschool curriculum focused on the Galapagos Islands because it combined my love of art and education with my passion for conservation and nature (plus I really want to go there one day and have a pet tortoise of my own).
The curriculum was designed to provide children with a comprehensive understanding of the unique flora and fauna found in the Galapagos. It included a field guide filled with detailed information about the different species that call the islands home, an activity guide with fun and engaging projects, and an identification guide to help children learn how to identify the various species they encounter.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was creating the illustrated story-like pages that were integrated throughout the curriculum. These pages helped bring the Galapagos to life and provided children with a visual representation of the animals, plants and islands they were learning about.
Designing the books and curriculum materials was an important aspect of the project. I wanted the materials to be engaging and informative, so I incorporated bright colours and playful illustrations that reflected the fun and informative nature of the curriculum.
The completed project is now available for download, making it accessible to homeschooling families around the world. I hope that this curriculum will inspire children to learn more about the Galapagos and foster a love of nature that will last a lifetime.
